Nov 29, 2011 1:56 PM | Triple Threat: TT is an extremely athletic team that takes pride in their defense. They have playmakers on both sides of the ball that can turn any mistake into points. The QB may be the fastest guy on the field and has a deep ball. If you want to have a shot versus these guys make the QB throw. Rush the quarterback’s throws and hope your secondary is athletic. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Dynasty: Dynasty has a very athletic group of WR`s that can turn a single into a homerun on any play. Their defense is suspect but will step up and make the big plays at the right times. They have an athletic QB that will kill you with his legs. Contain the QB and make him throw, will make mistakes. Get up on them early and they`ll be arguing with themselves and the refs. Made the B final four last year and are still playing with confidence. If they get up on you early and allow them to continue to move the ball, it`s a wrap. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
M&G: The two time B champs aren`t getting any younger but they continue to play smart with what they have. The well known malnourished QB can beat you with his legs but prefers to beat you with his WR`S. The defense seems to stick with their bend but don`t break philosophy which keeps them in most games against top teams. Take what these guys give you because if you force the issue you will regret it. You have to pressure the QB and limit mistakes because if you let these guys hang around then experience puts them over the top. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
James River Exteriors: Repeat post-season champs dating back to 2006. This team might not look like a threat but just ask any team from the 804 and they will tell you not to underestimate this bunch. The quarterback is very smart, elusive, and proven veteran leader. Offensively not super athletic but fine tuned and precise. Kicker is very good and can win games if close late. Defensively they are veterans and know how and when to adjust. Secondary is questionable in coverage but very good at flag pulling. Must contain QB and defensive line must keep their hands up. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Poor Boys: Another case of don’t judge a book by it’s cover. PB is a veteran team with physical lineman play and athletes in the skill positions. The QB is underrated and knows what he’s doing. They will use their lineman effectively, and QB can run but prefers not to if it’s a long day. Secondary is not super athletic but very poised and smart. To beat these guys contain lineman and try to stretch the field. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
River City: River City’s Achilles heel is pressure. They cannot handle pressure (figuratively and literally) very well. Start strong, finish strong kind of team as well as the opposite. They have a very accurate QB with very good WR (lead by George Washington from the Bark Bowl) core. This team’s outcome will depend on the offensive line giving their QB time to be accurate. If these guys have their full offensive line and give the QB time they could win a game or two. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Westwood: These guys are arguably the most improved team this season. The offense gives new teams trouble and the athleticism keeps them in games with the veteran teams. These guys are known for the misdirection spread which is lead by their point guard of a QB. This team can put up 40 points very easily in a game, but seem to struggle when something is on the line. Make the QB beat with his arm and not his legs. You must account for everyone on offense at all times. I am totally convinced that Westwood can win it all but 1 and done wouldn’t shock me either. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Gunz: 5 time state champs are back to have a go at #6. Clearly the favored team just based on history alone. This team is fine tuned and excels on offensive fluidity. If the offense is on early then you are pretty much done. The QB is a good passer in the pocket and despite his large frame is somewhat elusive and makes guys miss in the backfield. They have an experienced WR core that runs crisp routes and like to use the speedy lineman for the dump pass. I am not too sure what this team’s weakness is but if you can frustrate the offense then the defense will go down with it. You can score points on these guys but stopping them is a different story. Hands down the Gunz are the team to beat. OUTLOOK: Final 4 or more.
Soldier: Soldier is arguably the most physical defense in the state. These guys have been playing flag for 10 years or more and know what it takes to win. Defensive pressure is what these guys thrive on. They win low scoring games 9 times out of 10. The offense has athletes but is not nearly as impressive as the defense. You have to take the sure points versus these guys, so if you have a kicker us him. Soldier will need a perfect offensive showing to make it to the big game. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Dmob: After losing their entire secondary and majority of their playmakers to Primetime, the MOB is still potential top team in the state. DMOB runs the spread offense better than anyone, and it is lead by a veteran QB who has a cannon for an arm and is Vick-like on his feet. This team can win a game based on experience alone but I see them struggling in the second round do to fatigue and lack of offensive weapons. If DMOB wants to make it far this year they will need perfection from their offense and will need someone to help the QB make plays. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Primetime: PT is lead by the messageboard Twilight fanatic at QB. This is their first A league showing but they are very experienced and know what it takes to win. This team is easily one of the fastest team defenses and has athleticism across the board. This team could easily go all the way or lose round 1. To beat these guys pressure the QB and make him get rid of it. If they come out slow go for the homerun they tend to play down. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Da Unit: By far one of the most improved teams this year. They have an athletic defense that seems to have figured out when and how to make adjustments. They have a QB that is tall and is better on his feet than in the air. They use a speedy center at times and it seems to be an effective weapon. The key for this team’s success depends on the QB’s passing ability. Da Unit defense can keep them in games but scoring will be important come round one. To beat these guys make the QB pass and score more than 20 points and the rest should work itself out. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Firm: The Firm has a wealth of experience and athleticism across the field on both sides of the ball. QB is tall and athletic which gives him an advantage in extending plays for his athletic WR’s. Capable at running both a conventional offense as well as a spread look thanks to their team speed. Defensively they have speed rushing as well as playmakers in the secondary. Have a kicker that can win those last minute games inside of 40 yards easily. The only downfall for these guys is that they will see the Gunz prior to the championship game, so with that being said…OUTLOOK: Final 4 or more.
VA Pirates: These guys are coming off an impressive Fall showing in the Tidewater. This team lost to Firm in the championship by one score which is about the healthiest kind of loss to have just before the big tournament. These guys know what has to be done to win but lack the A league experience to win more that 2 straight versus A league talent. To beat these guys you must pressure the QB and get in their heads offensively and they will handle the rest for you. Keep the ball out of the big time wide receiver’s (Reggie?) hands. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Team Hood: Hood is a very young team with speed and athleticism all over the place. Their QB although he doesn’t look the part is pretty decent in the pocket but lacks elusiveness. WRs are speedy and can get open deep which is no task for the QB because he has a pretty nice deep ball. Defensively they have the secondary quickness but need more up front. These guys are hungry but their downfall is inexperience and mental breakdown. Get up on these guys early or get in their heads then watch the self-destruct take place. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
7 pt Spread: Had a down season after winning back to back league championships and a great showing at the bark bowl. Defensively they are average rushers but a secondary that is very capable of stopping athletic teams. Offensively they have an underrated QB who is loose in the hips for his size. If he can have time to throw they should be productive. If they can get everyone motivated to show up and play, and get a round one win for confidence they can be dangerous. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Wolves: Wolves won their Spring League, and then improved their team with a few key additions, and won the Fall league (beat TC in the championship in a game that could have gone either way). They are the undisputed #1 in the Fairfax area right now after that win. They have a great D and O line and speed and hands in the secondary. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
Triple Crown: TC is always dangerous, even though they fell short this Fall. They have changed a lot of personnel and have been in transition this past Spring and Fall, but retain the same core group and they are getting back to where they were last year. This team has the experience to make some things happen and could very well make it to Sunday, but also could be burnt out from Nationals. OUTLOOK: Round 1 or 2 exit.
FINAL 4: Gunz vs Firm & ? vs ?
FINALS: ? vs ?
Good luck to all teams competing this year.

The pirates will be one and done. The unit will get matched up with the gunz and be one and done. No one cares about the 757 teams. |

Nov 30, 2011 08:13 AM | subject: re: States 2011
I will pick a final four the day of the draw, but Gunz and Firm will be there on Sunday. If I had to choose now it would be inaccurate due to this year`s depth. I would start with soldier, wolves, primetime, westwood, da unit, or maybe tc depending on the draw. |
The real 804
Nov 30, 2011 08:56 AM | subject: re: States 2011
Why is everyone talking about da unit? What have they done in the states. So they beat the firm this year in their league play. But they didn`t win the league championship. I gaurantee right now if they match up against the gunz dmob or primetime they will be back on 64 before you know it. Let`s give some respect to our veteran teams like the soldiers, tc, wolves etc before we start crowning a 757 divisional winning team. As far as i`m concerned they are a B level team until they win 2 games in A league. 804 for life. |

I think Primetime had beaten them earlier in the year.

The Unit, Pirates, and Team Hood all played in two tourny this year. One in Richmond and one in Norfolk. Semi finals for Unit in both tourney. Lost to Soldiers and Primetime in spring, beat both of them in summer. Final 8 for Team Hood and Pirates in spring Final 8 for Pirates in Norfolk |
Pirates

Pirates are a legit threat and always play good at state so don`t be surprised if they make it to sunday. |

Nov 30, 2011 09:53 AM | subject: re: States 2011
Da Unit and Pirates have only won 1 game each in the "A" since 2001. Team Hood never played "A". BUT Da Unit does have wins over Soldier-Primetime-Firm in the same year so that in itself must be respected. And being Final 8 in Summer Classic means nothing because there was only 10 teams lol. The chain of command in the 757 is Firm-Ida B-Da Unit- and the rest can just argue. |

because most of the good 804 teams play A. the B teams from 804 normally are new teams or teams that just play for fun. |

why u keep saying since 2001? well let me say since 1999... now we can add 2 more for 703! So now ur looking at 804 with 7, 703 with 4, and 757 with 1... all since 1999
and as far as B, since 1999, 6 to 703 and 3 to 540 (m&g twice and fredburg force), so wheres the 804 and 757 in those? lemme guess, u say they dont care bout B but yet some of the team being mentioned to lookout for from 804 and 757, have played B and NEVER won B... examples AmFamFit, Primetime, Pirates, Hurricanes, river city, etc
