So, I`m bored and this message board needs to wake up a bit, so let`s talk about offensive style and how as a defense you approach them. The way I see it, keep in mind that I`m out of Fairfax, there are three main offensive concepts in our version of flag football, traditional, double pass spread and a full spread.

A traditional style offense utilizes a three man offensive line and many different receiver sets. Some teams will use their linemen and blocking and releasing receivers (see Gunz) which with a smart QB and decent athletes on the line can be extremely difficult to defend. Other teams like to give an option look here and set you up to throw out of it on the edge when your DBs get sucked up worrying about the run. And then others just like to line up 4 receivers, let their big men block and throw all day. The best way to stop any defense, but especially a traditional style one is with your pass rush. It`s almost a requirement that you need to send three men at the QB in a traditional offense, and smart teams will send their best athletes regardless of size. Getting after a smart QB with athletes will force bad decisions and help cause turnovers, even if the sacks don`t come. The other huge key here is linebacker play. You have to have your best flag pullers behind your line to help stop those pesky linemen dump offs.

I`ll give my thoughts on the other two offenses a little later on in the day after we`ve had some discussion on the traditional style first.
oh yea

They only posible way to run a trditional offense is to have great lineman and a running back (this offensive set usually has an very athletic QB.. Your receivers dont` have to be the best because this offense is designed to run and give you QB time in the pocket. Personally like this offense the best due to the fact that in the other two the ball is in the air to much which increases teams chances of a pick. The best way to stop this offense is to have 3-4 hella rushers to put pressure on the QB this keeps them fresh). if you dont he will pick you apart (even the best defenders cannot cover for more than 5 seconds).
Hey guys
