EVERY YEAR THOSE FAIRFAX TEAMS DROP DOWN AND PLAY B AT STATES PLEASE MONITOR THIS BOB,TEAMS ARE DROPPING OUT THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF THIS

subject: re: NO

The VFFA does not control which teams play in which tournament with the exception of the returning "A" Defending Champs must play in "A". And the final eight of the previous year`s "B" must move up to "A" the following year, if they happen to return (for that year only). Leagues and their Commissioner control which State Tournament their teams play in. - RCJ
this stupidity again?

subject: re: NO

All leagues around the state (except Richmond and Fairfax) have ONE division or level of play. There is no state-wide A,B or C designation. If Fairfax leagues played in one division like everyone else, then what? That "A" team would not be an "A" team but just be a team in the league that finished #5, #6, #7 and (just like all the other teams in the state who finish 5, 6, 7, 8 in their league) decided to play in B states.
And really

What good does it do them? Look at Badboyz from last years tourney. Yeah, they were an "A" team, an "A" team who went one and done. Stop whining and go play football. Are you scared to run with Fairfax?
why

wouldnt you want to play in A? Winning B doesn`t mean sh*t, you`re still not the best even if you win.
Wouldn`t exactly say that!

Dec 02, 2009

subject: re: NO

Last year there were 58 teams in "B", and 30 in "A".

Winning a 58-team tournament, one almost twice as big as "A", is no "small potatoes", in my mind!!!! HOORAHHH!!
Wouldn`t say that either!!!

Dec 03, 2009

Really you only have to win one more game in "B"...so I wouldnt say almost twice as hard.

Teams that were playing in fairfax A league from spring to fall if they go B it just says they scared they gonna go one and done in A at states so they go B. Why dont yall teams go A, go one and done till yall beat some of those richmond teams and beach teams.

yeah ur off bro. not evry location has athletes to compete with solid A teams.if u win B, ur the best in B period.just like softball having different classes. just like college football. richmond was the best d1aa team last year. theres nothing wrong with that?? all sports have different levels of comp. teams that win each level deserved and earned it.

Badboys fairfax
badboys vb
vegas nights
pain
rejects
loose cannons
to name a few, you teams are good teams and you should go A you might surprise a few of those A teams. if you go B your just saying you dont have the confidence to go A(maybe) , so when you do make it to the top 8 your one and done the following year in A there only few teams thats gone B finished in the top 8 and stayed in A and they are maroon and gold, ccr novas, poorboys, ptownhustlers so come on fairfax man up represent your league go for the gusto. look at the badboys last year they were in the nationals like they are this year and went one and done in the 2008 B tournament what does that say for that team. they must be thinking wow we got alot of work to do. but if they would have stayed in A they probably would not be second guessing there selfs. no disrespect badboys.

i was not done, but on the other hand when teams mentioned in the above post stay in B and get beat, it gives the team that beats yall all the confidence in the world. but i do understand in A it comes down to who has the best athletes on that team and the chess game on both sides of the ball.so if thats why any of those teams dont go A i understand. but you got to try.

if a team finishes in the top 8 it does not have to go A the following year if it has lost there players, and the team cant have 8or more of the original players on that team.7 or less yes 8 or more they have to go A. thats why the QB for longshots, 2008 runnerups in the B last year. now he will return to the B this year with a team called Badboys. keep in mind hes also the commisioner of that league. does this seam fair? ps i believe hes been in the last 2 chapionships all back to back. he qb p town and longshots.

Reject and Loose Cannon have to move up since they finished final 8 in B. I see Vegas Night was 0-1 in B last year lol I would not move up if I was them. And yes, both Badboys teams should play in A, lol was wondering what team in B ole Rob was going to hide out on this time.

subject: re: NO

Ever played in Nationals? My guess is no since you think playing in Nationals=elite team. Some of those teams would be lucky to win one game in B in our state tournament. The comp at the top there is tight no doubt but top to bottom states is harder.
ok

Dec 03, 2009
4:43 PM
subject: re: NO

Look the Fairfax commish has asked certain teams every year to play A in league play to even out the teams in each divison. So out of favor to the commish teams play A like Vegas nights which they finshed second to last and didnt even qualify for the A Playoffs in Fairfax. As far as them being in Nationals this weekend. the played in the PG county league this spring and all they had to do was finish in the top 4 in the regular season. Now Bad Boyz should be the real beef but they have had trpuble getting people to show up and they didnt even make the playoffs in our week night league. So my advice for you is play the team on the schedule and stop *****ing about it.

yes i played in nationals and states with turnes tavern.yeah that might be true for the 1st round or maybe 2nd round of nationals but after that the teams are just as good or better than the state teams.vegas ,badboys should go A im just giving them props. trust me by them going B they never get to play any of the A teams, so what, are they gearing up on dec.6th for the Btournament?lol

in Fairfax this year!!! Badboyz made it to the ship in the sunday leagues but weeknight didnt even make it to the playoffs. Vegas has always been a good B league team and below average A team. Firm should take it as a bye saturday

Badboyz SHOULD have played in A last year. Lost a lot of respect for them after that.

Vegas Nights is a B team. I`m not even sure either of them are making the trip down.

PAIN? Yeah, they should play A this year, and knowing Hollywood, I bet they do. They weren`t an A team last year though.

if a team cant win a game in A why do they belong in A? u mention maroon and gold, ptown, novas, poorboys, etc. they moved up like supposed to and stayed up but they pose no danger to win A and its a accomplishment if they win a single game in A. nothing wrong with doing what ur supposed to, moving up, taking some lumps and moving back to B if u cant win a game in A.

i agree with your post.but you know as well as i do when the A teams that i have mentioned go back to B its like going backwards, they have to stay A to save face in there leagues. they dominate there and if they went back to B most would loose respect.even though i heard again i heard poorboys was going B this year.

one more thing. 75% of the A teams cant win it. so if they went with your theory there would only be about 5 to maybe 8 teams in it.then the tournament would loose its value.

but there still a consolation for winning like 2 in A and making final 4, national bid. Ur right, only select few can win A, half have shot of making it to sun and rest no shot at all and those are those B teams.

That makes sense, those teams who DOMINATE in there A division should probably play A, but Badboys, Vegas, and Pain; none of them DOMINATED. Just putting that out there.

Interesting discussion. I think "to try this one out" may have a few good ideas. It would also be interesting to know who you play for since the Turners Tavern/ Legends rivalry goes way back. Frankly however ,based on your criteria I have been competing at the proper level since 2004. In any event the team I play on " Bad Boys" is a first year team. Pretty much a collection of good atheletes who love the sport and like to compete with a few old guys who should seriously think about retiring like me.
There are 4 players on our roster from last years "Longshots" which was also a first year team and we have a new sponsor. Our motivation is simple ,We enjoy the sport, continue to work out to stay in shape, enjoy teaching/coaching younger players at all levels, and like to compete at the highest level possible. Some of us know we can no longer be successful at the A level and compete for the state title or even the top 10.
I would suggest that some of you would be a little embarrassed to read your bravado critique if you knew how old I was. I`m probably older than most of your dads. In any event I look forward to the weekend , some tasty frothy, good competition and reliving a few old war stories and just maybe winning a few football games !
Best of luck to everyone this weekend. !!!!!!!!!!

To "2 Rob Clark", realy good comment SPORT! But I really don`t have to guess! Let`s see , you don`t have a name ( insignificant), you obviously don`t know much about any VFFA/ USFFA history ( inexperienced) , you don`t have any facts ( presumptuous) and You choose to resort to petty name calling by referring to me as a punk to make yourself feel better because somewhere along the line life hasn`t been good to you has it?
I`ve got it , you must have been somebody`s catamite. Now after you look it up, come on you got to admit that "You earned it".

Then there`s Harrisonburg, its 227 miles, 4 hrs to Chesapeake, they have 2 10-team leagues (1 spring & 1 fall) (website) and send 8 teams to States! Thats 40 %! Wow!

The Gunz did grab 3 Championships (2004, 2006, 2008) during that period ( note that none were back to back). But, they did fall to CCR Novas, Legends, Power92, D-Mob, and Firm (five different teams) in other years. I think the facts are that the State "A` Championship is a tough tourney. Sure, there are favorites, but no team has locks! He who wins it is truly the KING. Move over Elvis and Michael!

how can you force B finalists to go to A but do not force the A finalists to stay on A??
proposal

Dec 09, 2009
5:00 PM
subject: re: NO

you could have 32 A spots every year. these spots will be filled every year. fill those spots with for instance last years top 8 from A and B. which gives you 16, for the other 16 go top 2 from each league, if a top 2 has a bid from previous year then go 2 and 3. so forth and so on. maybe throw a few wildcards in for funs sake. The A tourney should be the bread and butter of the weekend for real. it would be to hard to regulate though cuz if ppl wanna play B they will just change names like the Bad boys did anyway.
