6:47 PM | Ok, since the seeding for the states is arbitrary at best, I wanted to see how the state tournament would look if we used a BCS-style ranking system. I took all the teams` seasons, and entered them into a matrix very similar to the BCS. The leagues are weighted by the # of teams they have sent to the top 8 in states over the past 5 years, then the teams` records within that league are calculated using the league ranking as a multiplier.
The following rankings reflect 2012 results, not prior state tournaments, nor mid-season tournaments (because teams typically do not run with their full or normal squads), but league play alone.
If the VFFA used math, this would be the seeds:
