The Subway Commonwealth Games and the Rotary Club of the Blue Ridge-New Generations is hosting the 2012 Tournament on April 21-22 @ Rivers Edge. DEADLINE IS April 6th.
REGISTRATION $200 until March 9th, then $250

A valid concern. Let me first say I have no affiliation with Subway or the Commonwealth Games. I do not stand to profit either way.
But lets look at the cash flow and why it costs $200 per team(10 players per team=$20 per person+travel costs).
Let say the Tournament gets 15 teams. Thats $3000 Total. With that $3000 the tournament has to pay to rent 4 fields with pylons and yard markers, chalk the fields, pay Roanoke City for electricity for night games and pay at least 2 refs per field to ref games. Let say refs get $10/hour. Thats $20 per field x 4 fields to $80/hr to have refs. That money goes quick with games hour after hour.
In the future I am sure the tournament may consider cash payouts but look for the entry fee to be closer to $400 rather than $200. If you are looking to make money playing football I am sure your skill level is pretty good. If you do decide to enter your team into the tournament I would encourage you to enter as Team Quizno`s to make a statement!!
